Otsuka’s, “Your Complete Home Furnishing Center” had its beginnings in 1935 as a new car agency selling Studebaker automobiles. It was founded by two brothers, Wallace Y. Otsuka and Jay J. Otsuka. After WWII, they added general merchandise, furniture and appliances. Automobiles were eventually phased out and the company concentrated on furniture and appliances.

A fire destroyed the original store in 1991. A new, modern and larger building was built over the same ocean-front location in 1995. The new store has 27,000 sq. ft. on two levels. An impressive selection of furniture, appliances and accessories added to a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean just yards away makes for an enjoyable shopping experience. A separate warehouse has 30,000 sq. ft. Otsuka’s is proud to be the largest furniture store and the largest appliance store on Kauai with 65 full-time employees.
